What we want to convey is
Not just tragedy-

March 11, 2011 - The Great East Japan Earthquake
Fukushima Prefecture's coastal area was severely damaged by a major earthquake,
tsunami, and later nuclear accident that had never been seen before.
Ukedo Elementary School, located in Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture, was also severely damaged.
It is also known as a "miracle school" because everyone was able to evacuate safely.
It was presented to the public as an earthquake remnant from 2021
in order to illustrate the threat engraved on the school building that managed to avoid collapsing
and the experience that everyone was able to escape.
We hope it will be an opportunity for visitors to
You can feel the threat of a big earthquake and tsunami all over the school building.
There is also a panel display showing children's evacuation situations, as well as picture books.
Ukedo Elementary School has a long history and is loved by the
community, dating back to the establishment of Kogyo Elementary
School in Mr. Yoshikazu Hamaya's residence in 1873.
The exhibition photos in the administration building portray the state
of school activities before the earthquake.
